The educational aspect of the Raízes da União Program aims to bring the theme of the importance of caring for the environment to schools and daycare centers, with the aim of impacting students and leaving a positive legacy for present and future generations.
The Raízes da União Education Program has as a partner the Guarulhos Environmental Education Center (CEAG), which will train educators, starting in the cities where União Química has its manufacturing units. During the educational activities in the cities, children will learn about the importance of using water responsibly and the fundamental role of trees and forests in preserving water resources, in order to increase and strengthen the participants' sense of co-responsibility. All participating schools will receive educational materials such as handouts and texts available in a virtual library. “Our goal is to create active citizens who are co-authors in the reality in which they live. We want to raise awareness among educators, children and their families to make the best choices for themselves and for the planet,” says Dr. Monica Simons, director of CEAG.
“The Raízes da União Environmental Education program trained a total of 113 education professionals, including teachers and managers from the public education network, initially in Embu Guaçu, in September. The training followed a six-hour schedule, divided into three meetings, and reinforced the importance of caring for the environment for future generations.
Now the educators are multiplying the knowledge they received with their students, who by the end of the year will develop a project with the theme “Water, take care so there is no shortage”.
