Helfine Plus Cães® is a broad-spectrum anthelmintic for dogs, based on 3 active ingredients with complementary action:
• Praziquantel: acts on the membrane of the muscle cells of the cestodes (“flatworms”), making them susceptible to the host’s digestive process. In certain helminths, it also interferes with energy metabolism, resulting in the death of the agent by starvation;
• Pyrantel pamoate: It is a drug from the tetrahydropyrimidine group, which acts on several species of gastrointestinal nematodes. Pyrantel is a reversible acetylcholine agonist, which causes hyperexcitability, spastic paralysis and elimination of parasites in the host's feces generally within a period of 24 to 36 hours after treatment;
• Febantel: is a pro-benzimidazole, absorbed in the intestine and biotransformed into fenbendazole in the liver. Fenbendazole, in turn, is excreted in the feces where it exerts its effects on endoparasites. Its mechanism of action occurs through the inhibition of energy-obtaining processes, causing death of the parasites by starvation.
Do not administer Helfine® Plus Dogs to cats.
Toxicity studies indicate a wide margin of safety, and it can even be used during pregnancy and lactation, according to the treatment plan proposed in the package insert for females in reproduction.
Helfine® Plus Dogs should be administered orally, in a single dose, and can be administered directly into the animal's mouth or with a small amount of food. No fasting or special diet is necessary before or after administration of the product. It is recommended to repeat the dose after 15 days.
